"Remember, you can't be 'half socialist'." C.S. Lewis said this: "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good, will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
The only "patriotism" acceptable to a REAL AMERICAN is, first of all, measured on a level playing field. And then those American Patriots demand "Liberty, and Justice for All" regardless of their affiliations. It is not "SELFISH" to say, "The man willing to take the greatest risks deserves the great rewards". And it is not selfish to say, "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies." Working not at all... And who, pray tell, does that remind you of, in particular? And that verse by the way is in the NEW and not the Old Testament. John Tuttle 10.30.08 |
