Styles first work as a cartoonist started in the late
1980s as an editorial cartoonist for Gannet and Rockfleet Media's New
Jersey newspapers. His best work involved the first George Bush. The
first Iraq war. The first Clinton candidate. Styles found work later
doing graphics for outdoor signage, print ads, and web sites.
In 2000, Eric turned his eye towards the finer arts. Working with old
signage and discovered items, he started to show the art in Jersey Shore
galleries. Styles had eight showings in a two year period in the Asbury
Park, NJ area. Styles' artwork was also carried by galleries in New
Hope PA. and Lambertville, NJ.
In 2005, artbystyles.com was created to bring the artwork to the Internet.
As a companion, the web comic BiNGE emerged. The pseudo
autobiographical cartoon soon evolved into the sole focus of Styles'
artistic passions. Styles is currently working as a cab driver in Belmar
NJ at night to supplement his modest income as an artist. Over the past
3 years during his down time, Eric sculpted a four panel comic into
a television animation series project. Almost the entire BiNGE
project has been done over the steering wheel of a taxi cab.

"Earlier
this year (2007), I was invited to another one of Styles' art exhibits
in Asbury Park, NJ. Advertised as 'The Starving Artist', Eric was hanging
out on a street bench, selling the hundreds of storyboard pages he had
drawn for BiNGE,
his latest creation. I was totally taken in by the gist of the work, which,
in essence, is all about 'addictions'. Realizing the potential and the
quality of the work, I purchased all of his storyboard cartoon drawings.
They
represent the development of all of the characters he had created to date,
and they were fascinating. The idea of creating a cartoon series that
concerns addictions seemed (and still does seem) totally unique in the
art world. While there have been any number of movies and books on the
subject, I could not recall a single cartoon that dealt with the topic
in such a humorous and provocative manner."
